THEO CLINKARD

Theo was born in Cornwall in 1977 and trained at The Elmhurst Ballet School and the Rambert School.


Upon graduating, Theo became a member of Adventures in Motion Pictures, performing in NUTCRACKER! SWAN LAKE (West End, Los Angeles and Broadway), CINDERELLA, HIGHLAND FLING, SPITFIRE and more recently in Matthew Bourne’s National Theatre production PLAY WITHOUT WORDS. (London, U.K. tour and Tokyo).


He has since worked with Random Dance Company (NEMESIS, BRAINSTATE, PHASE-SPACE, SULPHUR 16, THE TRILOGY, AEON), The Cholmondoleys and The Featherstonehaughs (FLESH AND BLOOD), Walker Dance and Park Music (SILENCE OF THE SOUL, THE THREE OF US), Kylie Minogue (choreographer for the promo TWO HEARTS and assistant choreographer for SHOWGIRL and HOMECOMING tours), Arc Dance Company (HAMLET, DON JUAN), Henrietta Hale (WAITING FOR BACON, dance film), Houston Grand Opera (ARIADANTE with Michael Keegan-Dolan), English National Opera (THE FAIRY QUEEN, KING PRIAM, DER ROSENKAVLIER, DER FREISHUTZ), Aletta Collins Dance Company (THE SNOW QUEEN), Tom Sapsford, Dans connect, Retina and a duet collaboration with Laila Diallo, BETWEEN THE SHINGLE AND THE DUNE (White Christmas 2005, Dance Umbrella 2006).


Theo was a founder member of Bonachela Dance Company in 2006 and toured the inaugural production VOICES across the UK and to Barcelona, Sweden and Holland. In 2007 Theo joined Siobhan Davies Dance for the creation and touring of TWO QUARTETS (having previously participated in the company’s Jerwood Bank Project 2005). Clement Crisp, writing in The Financial Times, said of his TWO QUARTETS performance “...beautifully danced - Theo Clinkard, a vivid newcomer to the troupe - fluent, memorable”.


Theo regularly teaches company classes for D.V.8. Random, Arc, New Adventures, Union Dance, Transitions Dance Company and The Featherstonehaughs. He also leads professional open classes at Greenwich Dance Agency, The Place and for Independent Dance, and has run numerous dance workshops, master classes and residencies in U.K. and internationally.


Theo is also a costume designer/maker and is about to design costumes for acclaimed Scottish designer/director Stewart Laing on his production of Offenbach’s LA VIE PARISIENNE for Malmo Opera, Sweden. Other recent collaborations include; Tanja Liedtke’s IMPLODED: UNE REVERIE ROMANTIQUE for David Hughes Dance Co, AHOTSAK for Bonachela Dance Co, THE WAYSIDE for Laila Diallo, AN AUDIENCE WITH ADRIENNE for Adrian Howells (Traverse Theatre @ Edinburgh Festival and The Drill Hall), Fin Walker’s MAN AND WOMAN for Ricochet Dance Productions, The Royal Ballet’s OUTSIDE IN project, THOUGHT LATCHING ON TO THOUGHT AND PULLING for Ben Wright’s PLACE PRIZE commission and his duet PASSING, STRANGE AND WONDERFUL for Bgroup, Arthur Pita’s BOOM SHE SHE BOOM, Russell Barr’s one man show SISTERS, SUCH DEVOTED SISTERS (Edinburgh Festival and New York) and Deborah Tiso’s dance film FLOTSUM for channel 4...

 

 

 

 

 

ANTONIA GROVE


Antonia was born in Reading, and now lives in Brighton. She completed her training at The Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, and during her time there toured with Moving Visions Dance Company.


She went straight on to join Rambert Dance Company 1998-2003, working under both Christopher Bruce & Mark Baldwin. Whilst there she performed works by choreographers: Christopher Bruce, Jiri Kylian, Mats Ek, Merce Cunningham, Glen Tetley, Lindsay Kemp, Ohad Naharin, Richard Alston, Siobhan Davies, Javier de Frutos, Jeremy James, Wayne McGregor, Didy Veldman, Glenn Wilkinson and Rafael Bonachela amongst others.


She has danced for Walker Dance and Park Music 2003-2004 creating and touring Silence of the soul, The National Theatre in their production of Cyrano de Bergerac, Rafael Bonachela on the 2004 Place Prize winning duet E2 7SD, which also head-lined a special evening of Art plus Dance at WhiteChapel Art Gallery. She was a guest artist for Random Dance 2004/05, touring extensively worldwide. PROBE toured ‘Have we met somewhere before?’ 2005-06 nationally and internationally, winning the GUGLIELMO EBREO AWARD and CRITICS CHOICE AWARD for 'Soledad'. In 2006 she became one of the founder members of Bonachela Dance Company, creating and touring Voices. Most recently she has been performing with the Charles Linehan Company for Dance Umbrella, and with Fabulous Beast Dance Company touring Son of James. PROBE's latest production Magpie has been touring extensively through 2008.


She has twice been nominated for the Critics Circle National Dance Awards 2002 and 2005- outstanding young dancer (modern), and for the 2005 Time Out Live Award for best dance performance. She recently featured in the Observer’s listings of twentysomething overachievers.
She has danced for a number of dance films, most recently Tremor by Ravi Deepres and Wayne McGregor for Channel 4, and in 2004 went to Wales to be part of the BBC’s Dance Film Academy. Other achievements include being the face of the 2004 Jaguar Cars brand film, and The Kills music video.


Other projects include; a series of solos choreographed by Rafael Bonachela and performed with violinist Ruth Palmer for Cheltenham Music Festival, and a music/dance/film collaboration also with Rafael and English Chamber Orchestra at The Bullion Theatre, Hackney. Antonia’s charity gala appearances, include one for Dame Beryl Grey’s 75th Birthday Celebration.

CHOREOGRAPHY:
As a choreographer Antonia has made works for Resolution!, INTOTO Dance Company, Bifem a Russian play, Yorkshire Youth Dancers, Gloucester Youth Dance (with PROBE), Central School of Ballet and The Frome Festival 2005.S he also choreographed Bifem, a Russian play.


Antonia is also an independent dance teacher for Central School of Ballet, Rambert School, London Studio Centre, Rambert Company Summer School, Greenwich Dance Agency and Ballet de Marseille.

 

Antonia is mother to Rosa May.
